Celebrating Franky's Incredible Achievement with the BCYA 2024

I couldn’t be prouder to share that my 8-year-old son, Franky, was selected in October to receive a British Citizen Youth Award (BCYA) for his outstanding contributions as a young carer. Franky has not only dedicated himself to caring for others but has also been fundamental in establishing a new Young Carers Club in our local area.

The club, which meets monthly, is a place of support and friendship for young carers in the community. It also offers a special opportunity for elderly residents in the care home to connect with young people, sharing stories, laughter, and meaningful moments together. It’s a beautiful initiative that bridges generations and gives everyone involved a sense of belonging.

Along with the other recipients, Franky’s dedication and compassion were recognised at a prestigious ceremony held at Westminster Palace, followed by a celebration by the River Thames. He was presented with a beautiful medal and has even been granted the honour of using post-nominals after his name… a remarkable achievement at just eight years old!

Watching Franky’s hard work and kindness being recognised in this way fills me with so much pride. He is an inspiration not only to me but to so many others in our community. I know this is just the beginning for him, and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful things he will go on to achieve.

Well done, Franky Mann BCYA!
